About Us Homepage
Veale-Nixon Limited was founded in the North East in the early 1940’s by J.N. Veale and J.H. Nixon. At this time the Company, as well as carrying out extensive general electrical contracting, was involved with installation works in the ship building industry.
This involvement with shipping and contracting brought the Company through to the early 1960’s, carrying out major installation works with many prestigious Clients.
In 1961, the Company became a subsidiary of T. Clarke plc.
The 1960’s and early 70’s involved the Company in major installation and refurbishment works to Shipyards in the North East for Vickers Armstrong Shipbuilding Group, as well as a number of large contracts for Durham University, The Bridges Shopping Centre (Sunderland), Eldon Square Shopping Centre (Newcastle) and numerous schools, hospitals and Local Authority installations.
The demise of the shipyards brought about changes to the type of contracts undertaken with Veale-Nixon making a successful transition to major projects in educational, retail, commercial, industrial and leisure sectors.
In recent years Veale-Nixon Ltd has been involved in projects for various “City Academies” as well as large scale student accommodation complexes.
The Company has continued to develop using the latest techniques and equipment in ensuring well engineered safe electrical installations to a high standard and at competitive prices. These principles apply equally to small repair jobs as to multi-million pound contracts.
